The Silent Evolution

my buddy emily showed me this amazing underwater sculpture by Jason DeCaires Taylor off the coast of Cancun. DeCaires Taylor works with the Museo Subacuatico de Arte to attract tourists to the artificial reefs created by DeCaires Taylor's sculptures and away from the natural reefs. What amazing way to marry conservation and art.

first, the artist scouts the local talent:


then he casts and molds the sculptures from marine grade cement:



once placed, the sculptures are claimed by the sea:
