Senosiain

I'm in love. Architect Javier Senosiain believes in mimicking nature when it comes to the forms and shapes of his living structures whenever possible. He also designs lovely modern structures, but these commissions are my favorites:

Information is Beautiful

I've been meaning to post this site for a long long long time (april?).

Information is beautiful... but beautiful infographics make it all the more appealing!

examples of what you'll see on the site:

peak oil:

how to make a living selling your music online:

drugs by preference by region:

site owner David McCandless gives a TED talk:

David Eichenberg

one of the girls that I work with is cousins with David Eichenberg, a Toledo resident and National Portrait Gallery 2009 exhibiter. wow. just fuckin' wow.

talk about tromp l'oeil:

the "THE" project

"the" is an important word in the english language. it helps us identify an instance within a multitude. However, "the" can be a unique challenge for logo design and type setters- often getting shoved into a corner, shrunk to insignificance in order to make way for the meat. But low and behold, Robb Ogle has brought a spotlight to our forgotten article via his site The "the" Project. He takes old advertisements (a cache of amazing hand lettering!) and recreates just the "the".

The Silent Evolution

my buddy emily showed me this amazing underwater sculpture by Jason DeCaires Taylor off the coast of Cancun. DeCaires Taylor works with the Museo Subacuatico de Arte to attract tourists to the artificial reefs created by DeCaires Taylor's sculptures and away from the natural reefs. What amazing way to marry conservation and art.

first, the artist scouts the local talent:

then he casts and molds the sculptures from marine grade cement:

once placed, the sculptures are claimed by the sea:
