Wilderness Downtown

Regardless of your opinions of Arcade Fire's new album, their interactive video for the Wilderness Downtown is pretty amazing feat of coding. There are windows popping up everywhere incorporating Google Earth maps and street views. Put your town in and see it go back to nature.

just a teaser... I'll save the truly awesome effects for you to discover.

Lyrics and Type

Much like Music Philosophy, the lyrics in these posters are benefitted by rich and thoughtful type design. Lyrics and Type, started by Timba Smits (I need to do a posting on this guy!) brings designers and artists together to bring lyrics to life... or at least to instill some visual poetics. I was pleasantly surprised to find Jon Contino's work among them.

Here are some of my favorites:

Ei Ka

Russian artist Eibatova Karina (aka Ei Ka) was featured in an issue of Tokion earlier this year for her Public Poster Project:

Sasha Prood

I know I've seen Sasha Prood's watercolor typography before, but it still wows me. Not only are they gorgeous designs, but whatever she uses as a resist, holy shit! the lines are crisp and perfect despite what looks like heavy washes. She's also pretty killer with a pen and ink too:

This flower/herbal face would make a great set with Uppercase's Floral Numerals:

UberKraaft

I mentioned Matt Williams (aka Uberkraaft) in my previous post on Jonny Wan. I was definitely pleasantly surprised to find so many amazing pieces that reminded me of a lot ofMike Perry's pattern work but more monsters...
